Smallhouse Log

Wednesday of Holy Week

So I love Smultron even more than I did before. I was trying to be a good little hacker and indent my python code with four spaces instead of tabs, but it was wearing me down. I thought, "Maybe I can still be lazy about this?" And sure enough, way back in the "Very Advanced" tab of the "Advanced" tab of the Preferences menu for Smultron is the option to use spaces instead of tabs for indentation. And do you know what this does? When I press tab, as I am oh so wont to do, I get, not just four spaces, but rather the exact number of spaces needed to take me to the next of the tab marks, which are four spaces apart.

So, once again, I'll be forcing my students to use Smultron instead of whatever else they might, at least for the first week and a half. Love it.

Feast of Gregory the Illuminator

Fitting.

Walking to the blue line this morning, I saw an advertisement for glamorous fashion. And I for once, I liked it. The model was shaped like a human woman, the dress was of both a nice color and a nice cut, and accented well. There was a lacy black bit that I particularly liked, that really made the dress. As I walk past it I realize that this flourish, the part that really makes it for me, is in fact permanent marker, a graffiteur's scrawl on the surface of the display.

So, once more, God bless graffiti.

Feast of Saint Cuthbert

I'll admit, I don't know what Saint Cuthbert did, but the seventh century was a long time ago.

So, yesterday I was sweating in the sunshine in my T and black collared shirt. Today, snow is settling on rooftops, trees, and cars. Makes me all happy inside (and happy to be inside).

Feast of Saint Gregory

Yesterday I went out to run some errands; it was a foggy day. It worries me that, as I rode my bike north past the Park, I was thinking to myself, "Wow, that view rendering distance is pretty crappy."

Saturday, fourth week after Epiphany

So Maggie walks into the room while I'm giving a plot summary to Ana of the first half of Pan Tadeusz. She listens for a few seconds and says, "So, talking about Gossip Girl?"

Oh! And we're getting married on the sixth of August, right here in Chicago. Hoo-ray!

shortly thereafter

Electric Six and LeSac v. Pip? This bar has solid jams, at least.
